I like a film that divides people, a film that delivers a peculiar uneasiness.
When you’re in love you are so happy, and when you make movies you are so happy, so these two happinesses are competing with each other. Both of these loves require time and commitment and money, so that’s why for young filmmakers I say “don’t fall in love.”
I think that when you make a film about recollection and death, you have to consider that cinema is also dying – at least this kind of old cinema that nobody makes anymore.
